Message From Our President

August 2, 2007

Dear Members and Friends:

As I sit down to write this note, the Days of Awe are less than six weeks away. Our focus begins to turn inward as we anticipate the process of teshuvah, forgiveness, the opportunity for reflection and renewal, which our season offers.

We invite all of you to attend what will be the most intimate and spiritual event of the year. Under the leadership of Rabbi Ayla and our gifted cantors and musicians, Rosh Hashanah will be a vibrant celebration with music, energy and depth. On Yom Kippur, we will explore our innermost being and Rabbi Ayla will transport us to new levels of awareness.

We are thrilled to be returning to Temple Kol Ami’s beautiful sanctuary at 15030 N 64th Street in Scottsdale, just south of Greenway. (Kol Ami will be meeting in another facility.) Please be sure to reserve in advance, as seating is limited.

The great Chassidic master, the Kotzker Rebbe once asked his disciples the following question: "Where does G-d abide?" They responded: "Surely the world is filled with G!d's glory" ". But the Rabbi of Kotzk disagreed: "Not true. G-d dwells wherever G!d is allowed to enter!" At Ruach Hamidbar, we invite G!d to enter and transform our lives. We invite G!d to infuse us with joy and wisdom and to bless us and our world with hope and healing.

We encourage you to renew your memberships now. For those friends who have been thinking about it, JOIN NOW! Your membership supports your own spiritual journey and the important work of our congregation.

Thank you.
I look forward to greeting you at services.
Many blessings for a happy and sweet New Year,

Randy Yavitz
President
